What we do

Motor & controller repairs — properly diagnosed first

Parts availability: Common controllers for popular models are stocked or available from UK suppliers. Motors and specialist controllers may need to be sourced — some are available from UK stock, others may need to come from abroad. We will always let you know before any work begins.
🔌
Motor Wire Damage & Rewire

Motor phase wires are one of the most common points of failure — especially on scooters ridden in wet conditions or that have taken a knock. We repair or replace damaged motor wiring without needing to replace the whole motor.

From £45
🧲
Motor Hall Sensor Replacement

Hall sensors tell the controller the motor's position so it can deliver power at the right time. Failed hall sensors cause jerky power delivery, cutting out, or the motor not engaging at all. We replace the faulty sensor — no need to replace the whole motor.

Motor Replacement

When the motor itself has failed beyond repair, we source and fit a replacement. Labour is a flat £30 — motor cost is additional and varies by size, power output and brand. We will confirm the full price before any work starts.

Controller Repair or Replacement

The controller is the brain of the electric drivetrain — it manages power delivery from the battery to the motor. A faulty controller can cause loss of power, erratic acceleration, error codes or a completely dead scooter. We diagnose and repair or replace as needed.

Common questions

Motor & controller FAQ

My scooter has no power — is it the motor or the controller?
It could be either — or it could be the battery, wiring or a blown fuse. The symptoms of a motor fault and a controller fault can look very similar. We run a diagnostic to isolate the exact cause before recommending any repair, so you are not paying for parts you do not need.
What are hall sensors and how do I know if mine have failed?
Hall sensors are small magnetic sensors inside the motor that tell the controller its position so it can deliver power smoothly. When they fail, you may notice jerky or stuttering power delivery, the motor cutting in and out, unusual noises when accelerating, or the motor not engaging at all. In some cases the scooter will throw an error code. Hall sensor replacement is usually much cheaper than a full motor replacement.
My motor is making a grinding or clicking noise — what does that mean?
A grinding noise usually points to a bearing failure inside the motor hub. A clicking or rattling sound can indicate loose wiring, a damaged phase wire or a hall sensor issue. Either way, it is worth getting it checked before the problem gets worse — riding on a damaged motor can cause further damage to the controller.
Can you source a replacement motor or controller for my scooter?
In most cases yes. Common controllers for popular models are available from UK suppliers. Motors vary more by size, voltage and power output — some are readily available from UK stock and others need to be sourced from abroad. Call or WhatsApp us with your scooter model and we will check what is available and at what price before you commit to anything.
Is it worth repairing or should I just replace the whole scooter?
Depends on the scooter and the fault. A wiring repair, hall sensor replacement or controller swap on a mid-range scooter is almost always worth doing. If the motor has physically failed on a very cheap scooter where replacement parts cost more than the scooter is worth, we will tell you honestly rather than take your money.
Do you work on e-bike motors?
Yes — we work on hub motor e-bikes for wiring repairs, hall sensor replacement and motor replacement. For mid-drive systems such as Bosch, Bafang and Shimano Steps we handle electrical faults, wiring and controller issues. Get in touch with your motor make and model and we will confirm what we can do.
